SUNDAY, FEB. 4, 2018

5:30 pm – 6 pm: Arrivals & drinks at the Graduate School of Journalism’s library in North Gate Hall

6 pm – 8 pm: Welcome dinner and introduction/screening of short reels at North Gate Hall (end time is approximate; could run longer)

 

MONDAY, FEB. 5, 2018

8:45 am – 9:15 am: Coffee & light breakfast

9:15 am – 10:45 am: Session #1: Why it’s important to operate ethically (Instructor: Kerry Smith)

10:45 am – 11 am: Break

11 am – 12:30 pm:  Session #2: Reporting and storytelling strategy  (Instructor: Lowell Bergman)

12:30 pm – 1:15 pm: Lunch break

1:15 pm – 2:45 pm: Session #3: The atmosphere you are operating in (Instructor: Dawn Porter)

2:45 pm – 3 pm: Break

3 pm – 4 pm: Breakout session

4 pm – 5:15 pm: Session #4: Your relationship with your sources (Instructors: Lowell Bergman and Gary Bostwick)

5:30 pm – 7:30 pm: Dinner at Northgate Hall

 

TUESDAY, FEB. 6, 2018

9:15 am – 10:45 am: Session #5: Bulletproofing your story (Instructor: Thomas Burke)

10:45 am – 11 am: Break

11 am – 12 pm: Bulletproofing your story continued

12 pm – 1 pm: Lunch

1 pm – 2 pm: Breakout sessions

2 pm – 3 pm: Finding your tribe

3 pm – 3:30 pm: Closing session

3:30 pm – 5:30 pm: Half hour confidential consultations (optional).

Please note that the Monday and Tuesday sessions will be at Sutardja Dai Hall, just east of the Journalism School, on the 6th floor in the Bechtel Boardroom.
