The IRP is hiring a Senior Editor and a Local News Editor.

The Senior Editor will oversee a range of stories, including investigative projects conceived and executed by students. We’re looking for a collaborative leader and gifted storyteller who is excited about encouraging and empowering our incredibly diverse student body to dig into pressing issues of social justice and then helping our students lift those stories to the level of excellence and accuracy required to get them published in national, regional and local news outlets.

The Local News Editor will lead coverage for Berkeley Journalism’s two community news sites, Richmond Confidential and Oakland North. This editor will work closely with journalism students to produce a broad range of stories about issues of vital importance to Richmond and Oakland. This editor will manage the school’s news websites for these communities, help students develop investigative projects and serve as a mentor for our program to inspire the youth in these communities to careers in journalism.

For both positions, we are looking for equity-minded applicants who represent the full diversity of California and who demonstrate a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds present in our community.

Please apply for the Senior Editor position here and for the Local News Editor position here. We will begin reviewing applications in mid-October.
